Broward Women's Soccer League Bad Weather? League Policy If you are unsure whether or not a game will be played, please first call the Brian Piccolo Park office to see if the fields are open (often, in inclement weather the park will close the fields). If the fields are open, expect your game to be played as scheduled unless otherwise indicated by the referee of your match. Lightning DangersTaken from another league's web site: On August 26, 2003, a 23 year old male was killed by a lightening strike in Ft. Myers while playing soccer. The champions league teams were also playing in Ft. Myers that day. The girls were pulled off of the fields but the decision needed to be made sooner (at the first indication of lightening) and the girls must be told the need to exit the fields as quickly as possible. Most were strolling slowly to the concession stand building. Lightning as the potential to strike within an 8-10 mile radius. Please don't wait until it is right upon you to make the decision to pull players from the fields. Parents, tell your child that if their coach is slow to release them that they need to go ahead and take the initiative to leave the fields. Soccer is not worth a life. |
